Project Description

Design brief:  To provide an off- line station for cutting structural steel clad sandwich panel from stock lengths to customer sizes. The finished panel sizes require length cutting, longitudinal cutting and angled cutting as part of bespoke cladding sets for buildings.

Off Line Band Saw Machine for making angled & longitudinal cuts

Input panels up to 12m long x 350mm thick are accommodated.

The CM Machinery design was based on their standard off-line traversing band-saw for secondary panel cutting.

The machine was fitted with a multi axis CNC control system and servo actuated rotating blade guides. This integrated panel feed speed with band-saw traverse speed and blade guide angles to provide a system that was able to produce panel lengths from as little as 100mm long, panel widths from 50 – 1200mm wide, and front or rear end angled cuts from 0 – 90 degrees.

The machine was specific to one panel manufacturer’s needs.

It produced accurately cut pieces for ease of assembly on site.

It deleted the need for manual marking off and positioning of panels to suit cut angles.

It minimised manual handling of heavy stock panels.

CM Machinery also provides a standard range of panel crosscutting machines for secondary cutting down of panels.
