CM Core Tubing Unwinds

CM Machinery has recently supplied a number of Coil Unwind Stations to a supplier of extruded multi core underground ducting.
The units are used to pay off the pre-made tubular cores, which are loaded onto pre-wound flanged drums, into the main outer duct extrusion process.
Drums up to 1000mm outside diameter x 200kG can be accommodated.

Each station is a new compact design. Drums are mounted back to back on cantilevered driven centre shafts. This keeps the necessary floor space to a minimum when a large number of units are required. Typically up to 30 cores can be incorporated into a single main ducting.

Each drum is independently centre driven and controlled to pay off the core tubing at a synchronised speed to the main line. Individual in line dancing roller control systems provide feedback to ensure tight tension control of each tube. This is particularly important when running small diameter lightweight tubes.

The stations were custom designed to suit the particular needs of the customer. A bespoke drum loading trolley was also provided as part of the contract.
