CM Machinery’s expertise in machine design, and ability to be flexible to customers’ needs has been most evident in their recent project with a manufacturer of medical wound care devices .

 

Working with the customer’s unique range of products, CM Machinery developed a hydrocolloid flange producing machine.

This machine uses a continuous process and has the facility to accept the hydrocolloid directly from a mixer/ extruder unit.

The machine calenders this into a continuous strip of uniform thickness and laminates it to a carrier base.

This is then passed through a two stage die cutting opertion which allows the surplus hydrocolloid to be returned to the mixer for direct re-cycling.

An upper cover layer of film/ paper is laminated on prior to the second stage, and finished flanges with oversized outers are produced.

The machine is suitable for a variety of different flange shapes by means of tooling changes and a system of interchangeable die stations was developed to allow the changeover to be made quickly.
