CM Unwind / Auto Splice Equipment
CM Auto Splice UnitCM Machinery has recently supplied unwind / auto splice equipment for use at entry to rigid insulation foam board production lines. The equipment was supplied to a well-known UK based insulation manufacturer.
The equipment is used to unwind upper and lower facing materials, which is fed continuously into the insulation board line, providing seamless changeover of input rolls and accurate tension control over a wide range of substrates.
The machinery comprises of working and stand by unwinds, auto-splice mechanism, in line accumulator for each web. Down line web guiding is also provided for accurate alignment.
Each unwind is independently driven and is integrated along with the accumulator positioning drives to provide smooth web tension control throughout the splice over transition. In this way successful splicing was achieved on a variety of difficult webs.
The substrates ranged from glass, kraft and aluminium foil faced papers, and all were successfully handled to provide strong spliced joints.
Changeover between the facing rolls was automatically carried out upon exhaustion of the working roll and without the need for the operator to be in attendance during the splice.
Rolls up to 1.5m diameter x 1.3m wide can be accommodated.
